Four Barns

The Four Barns, located in East Orchard Mesa’s wine country, was designed and built with extreme sensitivity toward the environment and the client’s budget. To help control heating and cooling costs, R-Control SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) were selected in the design of this energy efficient system. SIPs offer superior insulation and infiltration results. To keep utility bills even lower, geothermal vertical wells are used to heat and cool. In addition, tilted walls are also utilized to shade window and wall surfaces.
R-Control SIPs not only provide a strong structural system that resist loads caused by wind and snow, but they are also environmentally friendly. The structural skins of R-Control SIPs are made from renewable controlled growth wood resources, and the molded polystyrene core contains no CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, or formaldehyde while providing superior insulation. For years and years, this R-Control structure will save fuel used for heating and cooling and reduce pollutants.
